Mr. Schneider is President of Schneider & Company,
Inc., Certified Public Accountants. He is a licensed Certified Public
Accountant. Mr. Schneider is also an Attorney at Law and is a member of
the Indiana bar. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District
Court, Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. Tax Court.
Mr. Schneider’s preparatory education included Marian College, Indiana
University – Purdue University at Indianapolis, and Indiana University
at Bloomington where he received his B.S., Bachelor of Science in Business,
Accounting, with distinction. He received his legal education, including
business and tax law, at the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis
and was awarded his J.D., Doctor of Jurisprudence. He was a member of
Phi Delta Phi, an international legal fraternity.
For over 30 years Mr. Schneider has advised business
owners and individuals. He has rendered tax, accounting, valuation, estate
planning, IRS representation, and business consulting services to a wide
range of businesses, professional practices and individuals. His firm
serves as an outside controller for a number of small businesses. Each
year Mr. Schneider and his staff resolve numerous tax issues from desk
audits through U.S. Tax Court proceedings. Mr. Schneider received his
initial training at Deloitte & Touche (Haskins & Sells) and Ernst
and Young (Ernst & Ernst). Mr. Schneider is experienced in real estate
tax and legal matters as well as real estate development and investment.
Since 1979, he has prepared business valuations, and on numerous occasions
he has served as an expert witness in legal proceedings. He has presented
his Starting and Running a Profitable Business Workshop to hundreds of
aspiring entrepreneurs.
As an adjunct professor, Mr. Schneider has instructed
hundreds of students in Accounting (introductory and intermediate accounting),
Auditing (senior level class) and Taxation (income, estate, gift and inheritance
taxation) at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and
at the University of Indianapolis (Indiana Central University). Mr. Schneider
is a member of the AICPA – American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, the Indiana CPA Society, the American Association of Attorney-Certified
Public Accountants, and the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American Bar
Associations (ABA Sections: Taxation, Real Property, Probate and Trust
Law). Mr. Schneider has been a speaker at various professional, civic,
church and business organizations on topics including new tax laws, tax
planning, asset protection planning, and estate planning.
In recognition of a legal career exemplifying the dignity
of the law and a devotion to the public well-being, Mr. Schneider was
admitted as a Patron Fellow of the Indiana Bar Foundation in 2004.
Mr. Schneider and his wife, Karen, have three sons. They
are graduates of the University of Notre Dame and the Indiana University
School of Medicine, DePauw University, and the University of Michigan,
School of Business. Mr. Schneider and his wife are members of Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Mr. Schneider was raised in Indianapolis
and graduated from North Central High School.
Mr. Schneider has been a Carmel Rotarian since 1980.
He is a Paul Harris Fellow. For many years, Mr. Schneider and his staff
have contributed substantial services to the Carmel Dads’ Club.
For six years, Mr. Schneider served as a volunteer board member and advisor
to the Indianapolis Art Center. Mr. Schneider served as President of the
Carmel Police and Firemen’s Family Fund. He served many years on
the Board of Directors of the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, the Carmel-Clay
Education Foundation and the Carmel-Clay Chamber of Commerce. He was elected
and served four years as a Precinct Committeeman. Mr. Schneider served
four years on the Carmel Plan Commission.
In 1965, Mr. Schneider enlisted in the United States
Marine Corps. His boot camp was at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San
Diego, and his infantry training was at Camp Pendleton, California. In
Vietnam in 1967-1968, Mr. Schneider served as a Corporal (E-4 Non-Commissioned
Officer) with the 1st Shore Party Battalion, 1st Marine Division. He was
released from active duty in 1968 and held U.S. Marine Corps Reserve status
until 1972 when he received an Honorable Discharge.
